Overview
Embark on a 10-day partially-guided adventure designed for family and first-time travelers to Japan, combining the nation’s iconic “Golden Route” with unique cycling experiences. This tour provides a dynamic glimpse into Japan’s youth culture and fashion scene, a connection with its stunning natural beauty, and an immersive exploration of its rich history.
The journey begins in the metropolis of Tokyo, where an assistant will greet you upon arrival. You’ll enjoy a full-day guided city tour, exploring Tokyo’s oldest and most famous Buddhist temple, Senso-ji, in the traditional Asakusa area. The tour also takes you to the bustling Tsukiji Market for a taste of the city’s culinary culture and to the vibrant districts of Omote-Sando, Harajuku, and Shibuya to experience modern Japan. Day 3 offers a choice of optional activities, including a canoeing adventure on Lake Okutama, a thrilling Rhine cruise on the Arakawa River, or a guided cycling tour of the historic coastal town of Kamakura.
The tour continues to the picturesque Mount Fuji area by highway bus. Here, you can take a scenic cruise on Lake Kawaguchi for panoramic views of Mount Fuji or climb to Arakurayama Sengen Park for the iconic view of the Chureito Pagoda. A guided walking tour of the otherworldly Aokigahara Forest, with its lava caves, is also included.
Traveling by bullet train, you’ll arrive in Kyoto for a guided city tour of its food, history, and culture, from Nishiki Market to the UNESCO World Heritage site Kiyomizu-dera Temple and the atmospheric streets of Gion. The following day features a private e-bike cycling tour of the scenic Sagano area, visiting temples and the famous Togetsukyo Bridge in Arashiyama.
The final leg of the tour takes you to Himeji by bullet train. You’ll visit the stunning UNESCO World Heritage site, Himeji Castle, and embark on a private e-bike cycling tour around Mount Shosha, visiting the historic Engyō-ji Temple and enjoying breathtaking views. A final free day in Osaka allows for exploration of Osaka Castle, the shopping district of Shinsaibashi, and the TeamLab Botanical Garden before your departure from Kansai International Airport
