Angkor to Saigon Cambodia Cycling Wander

• Description: Depart from the hotel on the main road and cycle through the Angkor pass check point. Cycle through shady roads with a few potholes. You will begin to see Kravan temple, Banteay Kdei, and stop at the famous Ta Phrom, embraced by the roots of enormous fig trees and gigantic creepers (visit 45 minutes-1 hour). Continue cycling through a small circuit passing Ta Keo temple, Chao Say Tevoda, Tommanon before reaching Angkor Thom city. Here, you will see the Terrace of Leper King, Terrace of Elephant, Baphoun, Phimean Akas. Stop at Bayon temple and start the visit (45 minutes-1 hour). After the visit, cycle to Angkor Wat to finish the small circuit. Stop at the South Gate of Angkor Thom for photos. Visit the magnificent 12th-century Angkor Wat.
• Cycling: 35 km by bicycle. Cycling on shady roads with some potholes, covering temples and sites.

• Description: Depart from the hotel, crossing the bridge at Old Market to cycle 15km toward Rolous Group. The first 2km are on a tarmac road towards the bus station, then passing rice fields and villages. Cycle to Tonle Sap Lake passing small road along the river through villages, pagodas, and schools. This road is good for cycling to avoid busy traffic. After cycling 8km, turn right across the bridge to the main road (as there is no further access on the small road). Continue cycling toward the lake about 3km (July-December) where the boat stops. (Note: January-June, the water is low and the boat will stop further 3km). Board a boat to visit the village on water, school, and fishing farm. After a 1-hour boat drive, return to Siem Reap on the main road to avoid cycling the same road. Afternoon is free at leisure to relax.  
• Cycling: 50 km. Cycling on tarmac roads and small roads along the river, combined with a boat trip.

• Description: Breakfast at the hotel. Begin cycling off-road from Ou village through the remote countryside to Samrong, stopping for lunch at a local restaurant. After lunch, transfer to Phnom Penh to avoid some of the busy roads from Siem Reap province. Visit the Ancient Bridge at Kampong Kdei, one of the best examples of the remaining 800-year-old bridges in Cambodia. From the bridge, follow the historic highway connecting the provinces of Kampong Thom and make a restroom stop at Skun, known as "fried spider town." Arrive at your hotel.
• Cycling: 50 km. Cycling off-road through remote countryside.

• Description: Breakfast at the hotel. Be guided through this bustling city to explore the main sights by van, including Cheung Ek killing field and genocide museum known as S21. Phnom Penh has a population of over 1 million, and traffic has become very busy. In the afternoon, visit the Independence Monument and Russian Market.
• Cycling: 35 km by van. (Cycling is not mentioned for this day, activities are via van).

• Accommodation: Overnight in Phnom Penh.

• Description: After breakfast, transfer 15km out of the busy traffic in Phnom Penh. Begin cycling to visit Ta Phrom and Yeary Pov temples (12th century). Take a break for water and snack before heading to Phnom Chisor to visit the hilltop 11th-century temple. Enjoy lunch overlooking the scenery of the countryside. In the afternoon, cycle to Takeo, passing Ta Mok's house, the former general commander of the Khmer Rouge, whose house was built in the middle of the lake. Takeo is a less visited town with much relation to past history.
• Cycling: 87 km. Cycling to visit temples, hills, and past Ta Mok's house.

• Accommodation: Overnight in Takeo (guesthouse).

• Description: Early breakfast. Fill water and check your Vietnam visa again as it needs to be done in advance. Cycle 53km to the Phnom Den border crossing point. Take a break halfway for a water stop. After immigration, say goodbye to your Cambodian driver. Lunch at the local restaurant at the border. After lunch, cycle to discover along the Mekong Delta road into the beautiful green countryside, seeing rice fields and water buffalos. Arrive in Chau Doc, and those with energy can climb Sam Mountain for sunset!
• Cycling: 78 km. Cycling to the border and then along the Mekong Delta road.

• Description: After breakfast, leave for the floating houses on the upper Mekong River by boat, where you can see plenty of catfishes, red snappers, etc., breeding under their houses. Then, continue boating to visit the Cham village (about 12,000 people) who weave sarongs and hats by hand, keeping their ancestral tradition. Walk to the mosques where Muslims pray and teach Cham kids in Arabic. Then, start cycling along incredible country roads from Chau Doc to Bachuc along the border, or re-trace back to Triton (depending on road conditions). The cycling starts to gently undulate, and mountains begin to loom. Cycle to the killing fields of Vietnam at Bachuc, where Polpot's regime massacred over 3,000 Vietnamese in 1978.
• Cycling: 50 km+. Cycling along country roads, border areas, and undulating paths.

• Accommodation: Overnight in Can Tho.

• Description: After breakfast, there will be time to explore side tracks and trails as the cycling distance today is not far. This gives a great first impression of the "heart of Mekong." Take a short boat trip to Vinh Long, a famous fruit town in Mekong. Then, bike along narrow country lanes, easy dirt tracks, and trails. This biking is at its most glorious - through tiny orchards, witnessing colorful life along the riverside, pedaling past picturesque delta homes, pausing to chat with welcoming villagers, and clacking across innumerable wooden bridges. Cross narrow canals on a local sampan before finishing at the main ferry for a refreshing boat trip across the expansive Co Chien River. Ride the final few km to the very pretty Khmer town of Travinh.   
• Cycling: 80 km+. Cycling on narrow country lanes, easy dirt tracks, and trails.

• Description: After breakfast, start with a section of biking that cuts off-road onto gravel and dirt lanes, weaving around hamlets, across water channels, and through quiet, dense vegetation. This makes for superb biking after a ferry across the Co Chien River from Travinh, a tree-lined town with a large population of ethnic Khmer. Then, another section of crossing rivers and canals by numerous fascinating ferries. Bike through a route that takes you through narrow roads and lanes, past banana plantations, fields of sugar cane, and through the lush green landscape of the delta. The ride leads you right into the heart of the rural Mekong before arriving at Mytho – the gateway of the Mekong Delta – to end your cycling trip. From Mytho, transfer a couple of hours to Ho Chi Minh City to avoid busy traffic. TOUR ENDS.
